The Lower Grindewald Glacier (Unterer Grindelwaldgletscher) originates from the confluence of the Fiescher Glacier (Grindelwald, Bernese Oberland) and the Undere Ischmeer. During our last visit to the Lower Grindelwald Glacier he lost contact with the Undere Ischmeer.

The comparison shows the upper part of the Fiescherwand as well as the summit of the Gross Fiescherhorn (4049m). The two hanging glaciers are likely to have crashed in summer or autumn 2014. The pictures were taken from the Grindelwald First region.
This phenomenon is unlikely to be directly linked to climate change. The two hanging glaciers should rebuild in the next few years.
