Before/after comparison photo of Lower Theodul glacier (Valais alps)

The Lower Theodul Glacier is located north of the Klein Matterhorn (3883m) above Zermatt. It branches off from the Upper Theodul Glacier at an altitude of about 3200m. The Klein Matterhorn Glacier in turn flows into the Lower Theodul Glacier. The Lower Theodul Glacier flowed into the Gorner Glacier until about 2002.

Below is a strip of the Gorner Glacier (surface about 2400m.a.s.l.). Note the massive loss of mass and on the left the changes in the lateral moraine.
