The special indentation in the
Glacier tongue documented on 5.7.2019 has disappeared. Two narrow sandbanks are left behind. We could not see on what the two sandbanks are resting.

Proglacial lake) was largely ice-free.

This picture shows the size of the area which was covered with foils on 10.5.2020. The new ice cave is located under the left part of the covers. In the right part, smaller crevasses were visible under the covers.

Despite the textile covers, it is likely to become increasingly difficult to build an ice grotto at this location.
On 10.7.2020 the Rhone Glacier had already almost completely eroded up to far up.

Due to the Corona crisis, the new ice grotto has not yet been completed. Work on the new grotto was completed on 10.7.2020. The bazaar was still closed on 10.7.2020.
We reached the Rhone Glacier via the hiking trail and a short descent over the eastern moraine (path traces). Back on the same path.
