This aerial photograph shows the young Rotte (Rhone), the glacial lake (proglacial lake) and the Rhone glacier.
To the left and right of the glacier stream, impressive roche moutonnée have formed. They had to withstand the enormous pressure of the glacier ice for a very long time. All roche moutonnée can be seen from the side or the lee side.
