Description:The aerial photo shows the Bächli glacier and the Gross Diamantstock.
The Bächli Glacier has meanwhile retreated to an altitude of 2520m above sea level. In 2009 the end of the Bächligletscher was still at an altitude of about 2320m above sea level.
To the left of the glacier tongue, a structure that looks like a lateral moraine extends downwards. There is a lot of dead ice under the debris. It remains to be seen what will be left of the formation when all dead ice has melted in a few years.
Above the end of the moraine-like structure, part of the slope has slipped. Good to see is the place of the crack. Thawing permafrost (or possibly dead ice) may have played a role in this slide.
