On this aerial photo you can see the Great Aletsch Glacier as well as its two medial moraines. Medial moraines form when two larger glaciers converge. (Western medial moraine: Grosser Aletschfirn and Jungfraufirn. Eastern medial moraine: Jungfraufirn and Ewigschneefäld). Downstream a supraglacial lake can be seen to the left of the left medial moraine.
